Emergency additional time requests:

  • The Service Placement Team has the authority to approve emergency additional time requests of up to 2 hours only - in line with ECC contracts.
  • In very specific circumstances over 2 hours will be considered if part of the same emergency situation, for example waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
  • This process is not to be used for pre-planned appointments, only for incidents outside of the provider's control.
  • The requests must be received by the Service Placement Team within 28 days of the incident occurring otherwise they will not be approved.
  • Any unused commissioned hours for the week will be offset against any additional hours undertaken by the provider.

Contingency Requests:

  • The Service Placement Team has the authority to approve contingency hours for payment to providers. In order to do so, the exact details of the contingency being claimed for must be reflected within the ISP/support plan. Eg 10 hours annually for escorting to hospital appointments / 5 hours annually for day centre closures.
  • The hours must still be available within the allocated contingency i.e not above the rolling annual maximum
  • The requests must be received by the Service Placement Team within 28 days of the incident occurring otherwise they will not be approved.

SVO Suspension / SVO Restart / SVO Termination:

SVO Suspensions can be submitted by a provider, for example to notify SPT that a family is covering care for a 'one off' weekend etc. SVO Restarts can be submitted by a provider to notify SPT that care has been reinstated, for example a discharge from Hospital. SVO Terminations can be submitted by a provider to notify SPT that care package has come to an end, detailing the reason why.

These SVO processes negate the need for providers to contact Social Work Teams.
