Out of Hours emergency repairs

Medequip have an Out of Hours Team who can be reached on 020 8573 2871 and will provide an Out of Hours emergency call-out repair service as follows:

Monday to Saturday

From 7.00am to 7.59am and 20.01pm to 12.00am (midnight)

Sundays, 25-26 December and 1 January

From 7.00am to 12.00am (midnight)

Please note: the contract does not have an Out of Hours service between 12.01am and 6.59am on any day

Sunday Out of Hours Emergency equipment orders

On Sundays only (not including 25-26 December and 1 January) there is an emergency delivery service to facilitate Hospital Discharge, Fast Track and Admission Prevention between 9.00am and 5.00pm (Order cut off 2.00pm)

Equipment returns

Equipment with either an ECL or Medequip label can be returned, so Medequip can clean, repair and reissue the equipment back into the community. This not only saves social care and NHS funding, but also supports the long-term net-zero aims and has a positive impact on the environment

A free of charge collection can be requested by contacting Medequip on 0333 034 2048 or email essex@medequip-uk.com

Equipment can also be returned directly to Medequip at their Braintree service centre depot:

The Medequip online self-help guide provides advice and information on products and equipment for older and disabled people

To use it, the resident can:

  1. Go to the self-help guide 
  2. Choose which subject they would like help and support with
  3. Answer some questions about themselves and their environment

Care providers requiring information to support a hospital discharge should use the following telephone numbers:

Care package / placement restarts

  • Providers looking to speak to ward staff to get additional information in relation to the needs of an Adult, prior to discharge should in the first instance contact the ward directly.  The ward number and name should be included on the Information to Service (ISP).  For ease of reference these are listed on the attachment.
  • If the provider is unable to get a response from the ward, the provider should then contact the Integrated Discharge Hub on 01206 748 338

 New care packages / placements

  • For information around the needs of the Adult not included within the ISP, providers should contact the ward
  • For information relating to equipment, medication or transport, providers should contact the Integrated Discharge Hub on 01206 748 338
  • For information regarding start date or any other queries regarding the purchase order, providers should contact SPT on 03330139974

During working hours please send your concerns to the inboxes below selecting the correct one for the quadrant the adult lives in.

For concerns during out of office hours and that cannot wait until the next working day because you need to raise them immediately please call the Emergency Duty Team on 0345 606 1212. If no one answers please leave a voicemail and this will be responded to within the next 10-15 minutes.

As always if the situation requires urgent intervention from the emergency services follow your local procedures.

Public Health

  • Suspect an outbreak if 2 or more cases of a particular illness arise within 5 days with a link to the setting
  • Use Lateral Flow Devices (LFD) for those eligible for COVID-19 treatments to exclude COVID-19 before reporting a suspected respiratory outbreak.
