In 2016 ECC produced a report on its relationship with Adult Social Care providers. The content of this report can be found here and we have added a section about the actions ECC has taken to date.

We obviously want to see an improvement year on year (like we did between 2016 and 2017) but crucially we want to know what is and isn't working. ECC Members are very interested in the relationship with our market and have been scrutinising the progress we have made. It's therefore very important that we get as many responses as we can, both from providers and officers.

Yes. We don't ask for names of people completing the survey or organisations. Whilst we do ask for general information about your organisation's services (eg. Service type, age group served) this is used purely to understand if issues are with certain services.

The survey is to gather an Essex-wide view of relationships.

All contracted social care services and relevant ECC Officers (including directors) are being asked to complete the survey. Collated responses will then be looked at to identify issues / progress in a number of areas.

Sliding scale

0 means you can't comment or don't have contact with the relevant department to comment

1 indicates you have little contact, the relationship is non existent or strained, you're not consulted or don't feel valued as a provider

Scoring 2 indicates your relationship is strained but is better than indicated by 1

Scoring 3 indicates a relationship with strengths and weaknesses, but on the whole is good.

4 indicates you are very happy with the relationship you have

Comments

Whilst statistical data is useful to measure differences to previous year scores, your comments are vital so that we understand the reasons behind your answers. Please be assured that all comments are read in context (ie. alongside your scores). All we ask is comments are clear and relevant, and where possible provide a solution.

The same questions are asked each year thus allowing us to measure progress. Even if your answers haven't changed please take the time to complete the survey. Unfortunately we can't extract individual scores from previous years.

We are committed to building and improving relationships and the findings from the survey will be sent to senior managers, Directors and Members working in social care in Essex.

Since last year's survey we have: improved provider forums around the county so they involve Health colleagues, as well set up a strategic forum with Councillor Spence to discuss shaping future contracts; included ECC officer contact details to the Hub as well as other information in direct response to provider feedback; built a closer relationship with the Essex Care Association, funding a Director of Development as well as paying for first year membership fees for framework providers.

Likely early in the new year (Jan / Feb). This gives us time to collate the information, analyse the data and present it to senior officers. Sometimes we may need to extend the time period for completing the survey, and this will be clearly communicated if required. Doing so may result in a slight delay to publishing the findings.

We will email once available and will put the findings on the dedicated Hub page
