Foster Care Fortnight: 12 – 25 May 2025

This year’s theme is The Power of Relationships – because at the heart of every fostering journey are the connections that make all the difference.

Recruiting foster carers remains a challenge in Essex with a 55% reduction in approved carers over the last 5 years. We ask that you kindly support us this Foster Care Fortnight (12-25 May) in raising awareness of the need for more carers to support the most vulnerable children in our community.

The Fostering Friendly Employers’ Scheme helps businesses and employers make a difference to foster carers and the children they care for while improving support for their employees. More information can be found here.   

Your support might make a difference in someone taking the decision to become a foster carer if they know there is relevant support at work.

Regardless of if you are able to become a Fostering Friendly organisation for those Suppliers / Providers with Essex based staff we would like your support in promoting our recruitment campaign perhaps via a staff newsletter or by putting posters on your notice boards etc.   We will be hosting a special in person event this month where people can hear from our inspiring foster carers, have an informal chat with our teams and explore fostering options to suit and of course with exceptional support, award-winning training, competitive fees and a whole community around a foster carer, there’s never been a better time to foster with Essex County Council. New carers in 2025 will receive a £2000 welcome bonus.
