Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Training for AWD Providers 2024
- Time:
Due to demand, the Provider Quality Innovation Team are pleased to be able to offer fully funded In Person Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Training.
The training was developed as a result of Right to be Heard (2019) the Government’s response to the consultation on mandatory training on learning disability and autism for health and social care staff. The response included a commitment to develop a standardised training package.
The training is named after Oliver McGowan. Oliver was a young man whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs for autistic people and people with a learning disability.
Tier 1 of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is for people who require general awareness of the support autistic people or people with a learning disability may need. Ideally you should complete Tier 1 prior to attending the face to face sessions, however this is not essential.
Tier 2 of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is for people who may need to provide care and support for autistic people or people with a learning disability.
We are offering four face to face sessions for you to choose from, however there is a very long waiting list for this training so only two spaces per session, per provider are permitted. Spaces will be given on a first come first served basis and once these are full, you will be placed back on the waiting list for further sessions.
