You may be aware that the Supreme Court has recently issued a judgment which significantly changes the legal approach to determining whether a person is deprived of their liberty. We would encourage you to familiarise yourselves with the judgment and carefully consider the implications for your services and practice. We ask that you refer to this updated position when making any new referrals to the DoLS team.  In addition, as the change came into effect immediately from 2 June, please review any recent DoLS referrals you have made. You should consider whether, in light of this revised approach, any of these referrals may no longer be appropriate.

Essex County Council is offering an Introduction to Health and Social Care Skills Bootcamp—an ideal opportunity for adult social care providers across Essex to support recruitment and staff development.

This flexible training can help you:

  1. Upskill New Starters – Support new staff with structured, sector-relevant training to build confidence and capability.
  2. Recruit Trained Talent – Access a pool of local learners who’ve completed the bootcamp and are ready to begin their career in care.

The bootcamp is fully funded for learners, making it an accessible route into the sector and a valuable resource for providers looking to grow and strengthen their teams.
