This year, the ICB has been running a Medicines Waste Campaign. The campaign focuses on the issue of unused medicines waste. Across the UK, unused medicine costs the NHS around £300 million every single year, with an estimated £50 million from care homes, £110 million worth of medicine returned to pharmacies and a further £90 million worth of unused prescription medicines being stored in homes. We can all take action to reduce the waste and save money which can then be re-invested back into our NHS for patient care. It is also better for the environment.
We would like to invite Care homes, Pharmacies and GP practices, to a 30-minute online training session, with details shown below. We would love to hear your ideas about how we can all work together.
Training to include:
- Campaign introduction
- 3-way Communication solutions
- Streamlining Rx ordering
- Preventing duplicate ordering
- How you can help reduce medicines waste
- Questions
