COVID vaccine eligibility changes (1)
Please find linked letter outlining the updated COVID-19 vaccine eligibility.
From autumn 2025, the COVID-19 vaccination will be offered under the national programme to individuals at highest risk of serious disease. The eligible cohorts are:
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as defined in the ‘immunosuppression’ sections of the COVID-19 chapter 14a of the Green Book (tables 3 and 4)
Following a comprehensive review of the evidence, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI)
has advised that frontline health and social care workers, including staff in care homes for older adults, will no longer be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination under the national programme. Health and Social Care Workers who are otherwise eligible (for example because of their own health conditions) will continue to be offered the vaccine as part of the national programme.
