New interim guidance has been published following the AGNI 2026 Supreme Court judgment. Adult Social Care providers are encouraged to review the guidance to understand Essex County Council's current interim approach while further national guidance is awaited.

Climate commitments

Essex County Council have made a commitment to achieve carbon net zero across the county by the year 2050, with an intermediate goal of achieving net zero across our core estate by 2030. The climate team within Procurement work to reduce carbon emissions within ECC's supply chain.

Bellhouse Closed Landfill -

  • Works to extract the gases from the Landfill site and convert them to electricity to sell back to the Grid

Property Flood Resilience Scheme

Sustainable urban Drainage Systems (SuDS)

  • Working with schools in Essex whos sites have previously been flooded from ordinary watercourse, surface or ground water
  • Also works to promote community-wide flood resilience awareness
